Program: The Bosco Tech cross country program is composed of individuals who have dedicated themselves to the values of teamwork, self-discipline, commitment, and sportsmanship. Bosco Tech’s distance running program is one of the most respected in the California, winning CIF Southern Section Championships in 1997 and 1998, and State Championships in 1997 and 1999.

League: Del Rey

Classification: Division II of the ClF Southern Section

Levels of competition: Varsity, Junior Varsity, Frosh/Soph

Practice season: begins in June

Competitive season: extends from September to late November

Conditioning session: extends from June and is held at the end of the school day (during either the late afternoon or the evening)

• Roadrunner Classic
• Mt. San Antonio College Invitational (the nation’s largest and most prestigious high school invitational)
• San Gabriel Valley Championships (an invitational for the top teams in the Valley)

Highlights: During the past ten seasons, the Varsity posted a record of 47-2 and went on to win nine League Championships. The squad has advanced to the CIF preliminaries for the last ten years, CIF Finals in 1996-2001, and to the State Finals in 1996-2001. The Varsity team won the CIF-Southern Section in 1997 and 1998, and the State Championship in 1997 and 1999. Since 1988, the Junior Varsity has posted record of 87-7 and earned undefeated league titles from 1994-2002.

Head coach: Sal Perez is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. He is currently the Athletic Director, a math teacher at Don Bosco Tech and assistant track coach. He is assisted by Aaron Ponce, Aaron Solis, and Luis Rodriguez.
